Congrats

Congrats to the Homestead Girls Basketball team. They defeated South Side last night to win their first sectional championship since 1998. They did a great job of handling South Side's full court pressure and made some big shots down the stretch to get the win.

Outright NHC Champs

Congrats to the Homestead Boys Basketball team. The completed the conference season with a Perfect 7-0 record and outright NHC championship in school history Thursday night at Norwell. Great job for a team who only had 4 guys with previous varsity experience and was written off by just about everyone after the graduated so many players from a year ago.

The Pack is on top

Well my team just won it all. It's a great feeling to see them win it. The first football game I remember was Super Bowl 32 between the Packers and the Broncos where John Elway led the Broncos back to win. I was 6 yrs old when that happened and remember crying after they lost haha. And even tho the Packers won the Super Bowl the year before that this is the first one I can actually remember which makes it pretty special. Plus we can now stop talking about Brett Favre because Aaron Rodgers has just as many rings as he does. Go Pack Go!

Hooked

A very nice essay that goes into good detail. It does the proverbial "Paint the Picture" for the most part. It reminds me a many aspects of childhood, Like riding bikes through neighborhoods and fishing with friends in those little ponds most neighborhoods have. I like the details pertaining to all the places he went to go fish and wish I was in one of those southern places right now because its cold here. Pretty nice essay that did not disappoint.

Trine U gets an A+

So I visited Trine Monday and came out of the experience extremely impressed. I had read in the paper that the facilities were great and that the program was doing extremely well. We arrive at the stadium and are directed up the stairs into what i thought was a press box but turned out to be an extremely nice suite like room for people to watch Trine games or to show off to new recruits. Then they showed us actual suites for special guests for games. Not something I expected at a D III school. Plus a stadium that seats 5,000 and routinely gets that and more for home games. Next I noticed that every coach and most players I met were wearing these big silver sparkling rings. Trine has won their last three conference championships including last years. Each time they win they get a ring and I'm not going to lie that was a real incentive in the recruiting process. As one of their players said "You come here we'll getcha a ring". Plus their stadium is new along with the locker room, meeting rooms, and weight room. Trine moved to #1 on the football list of schools we'll just see if that's the route I end up taking.

Faja

A very descriptive essay. The essay happens to bring out emotions of admiration and of sadness. One feels great admiration for a man who works tirelessly for his family every day. The picture of him sitting in his chair every night after work makes you wonder why he works so hard everyday. When you think that the reason is for his family your heart grows in admiration of his sacrifice. At the same time a sadness fills you that this man seems to do nothing else but work and rest for more work. It's hard to see someone not seem to know how to do something other than this one thing. On the whole a very nice essay that paints a very clear picture of the tired man sitting in his chair after a long day of work to support his family.

Ouch

So I through out my back this weekend. All I have done is lay down and watch tv, Real exciting.

True Grit does justice to the original

So tonight on this snow day I went and saw True Grit. Hoping that the movie did John Wayne honor, it did more than that. Jeff Bridges was an excellent Cogburn and portrayed him beautifully. Matt Damon played the Texas Ranger, Mr. LaBoeuf,  very well and  Hailee Steinfeld portrayal of Maddie Ross was better than Kim Darby in the original. This movie went far above my expectations and is a must see.

As if college descisions didn't get easier

Just got a call from another interested football coach. Really from out of the blue I received a call and invitation for a visit by Trine. They happen to have an awesome program but it puts another school on the list of possibilities. Well hopefully everything can work out. I am excited and appreciative of the opportunity I just wish one option would stand out soon.

What a game

Shout Out to both teams tonight. Concordia downs Homestead 107-102 in a 5 OT game. It was crazy with multiple clutch shots down the stretch. Give credit to the Spartans for never giving up even when down 11 at the half and later 10 late in the third. Also even when forced to play with 4 then 3 and then 2 players they still played hard and never gave up. Honestly we all know Concordia wouldn't have won without the Spartans having to play man down haha but credit to both teams one HELL of a game! I know I am absolutely tired and all i did was talk for 3 hours. I bet the players are even more tired and for Homestead they have another game tommorrow night and it happens to be a conference game. I am guessing the best High School basketball game I will ever see and I hope I see a couple that are even half the good. BTW the foul on Sery in the 5th OT was garbage. But way to fight guys. 107-102 the final tonight. everyone got their moneys worth that is for sure. Especially me since I got in free for being part of the media.

Radio

Well I am excited for tonight. The Homestead Spartans Boys Basketball team is traveling tonight over to Concordia to take on the Cadets in another SAC-NHC showdown. It should be a pretty good game. As any good radio man I am about to visit our sponsoring businesses for some free food. In particular Moe's Southwest Grill to get a Billy (awesome nachos). After that I'll head over and get everything ready for the game. Make sure you turn out to Concordia High School to cheer on the Spartans or Tune in as Sam Labas and I give live coverage of the game on The Point 91.1-Your Home For Spartan Sports
